Wildlife fencing for cultivation
About the project
Ida Goldstrand, Kråkebäcks Trädgårdsland runs a small-scale vegetable farm that offers crops for sale in a farm shop, via REKO-ring, and to restaurants and preschools.
There is a high demand for locally produced vegetables, but today a large part of the harvest is threatened, especially sought-after crops like cabbage, carrots, lettuce, and beans – by wild animals. The project aims to protect the crops and thereby create conditions for increased production, economic viability, and long-term development.
By fencing in a larger cultivation area on a nearby family farm, the grower can expand their operations, try more crops, and meet a growing demand. The goal is to increase production by about 30 %, which enables larger sales through the farm shop, REKO-ring, and direct deliveries.
The project also creates potential for more activities such as study visits, courses, and markets, as well as future collaborations with more schools, preschools, and other actors in the public sector. In the long run, it can also lead to the offering of internship or work training positions. It strengthens both food preparedness and the local economy in rural areas.
Project goals
The project's goal is for a wildlife fence to be installed around the expanded cultivation area on the property Grimhult. The project will ensure a safer harvest and contribute to increased cultivation capacity and economic sustainability in the operation.
