Strategy
Leader Kustlandet's work is governed by our local development strategy. The strategy forms the framework for our activities during the years 2023-2027 and determines which projects can be granted support. The strategy is based on local needs and has been developed through open dialogue between non-profit, business, and public parties in the area.
Integrated efforts for future rural areas
Our strategy for the years 2023-2027 has been developed in dialogue with 230 companies, associations, and authorities in our area. The strategy is based on local needs and opinions and provides a common vision of the area. Support from Kustlandet should go to integrated efforts that contribute to achieving the goals in our development strategy. Each project contributes its part to a whole for the area's development. The strategy includes our vision, goals, and areas of intervention.
OUR VISION
”Use and preservation in balance for local development”
Our vision is that residents are involved in and take responsibility for the community's sustainability. Through inclusive collaboration, a balance is found between innovation and protection. The measured use and refinement of Kustlandet's resources support an increasing number of residents and strengthen the area's attractiveness. Development occurs by actively and sustainably using what is to be preserved. With the vision as a guide, the strategy should contribute to three overarching goals.
Our overarching goals
GOAL: QUALITY OF LIFE
The goal is that residents in the area have better conditions to live, thrive, and support themselves. There should be opportunities for personal and professional development. There should be community services, functioning infrastructure, and opportunities for leisure activities.
GOAL: SUSTAINABILITY
The ongoing work towards a sustainable society applies to all aspects of rural development. The goal is to contribute to development efforts for increased social, economic, and environmental sustainability.
GOAL: COMPETITIVENESS
The goal is increased competitiveness for rural businesses and local products. Increased competitiveness also applies to housing, locations, jobs, and associations for an attractive countryside.
Our areas of intervention
The areas of intervention constitute the tools of the strategy and indicate in which areas development efforts should take place to achieve the strategy's goals. To contribute to the overarching goals, support can be sought within one or more of Kustlandet's four areas of intervention.
Culture, sports, recreation, and services.
People need cultural, sports, and leisure activities to feel good. Within associations and social networks, there are opportunities for both personal development and collaboration around community development. For a vibrant countryside, services are also needed for both residents and visitors.
Projects can, for example, involve:
- promoting local cultural, sports, and leisure activities
- creating local meeting places and networks
- creating new attractions, activities, and events
- increasing young people's interest and influence in local development work
- welcoming and facilitating for newcomers, inclusion, and integration
- promoting the social sustainability of communities
- developing and maintaining services and functions through new solutions
Housing, infrastructure, and communications
Living environment and quality of life is one of the countryside's strong cards and means opportunities for relocation and business establishment. However, for residents, visitors, and businesses to enjoy and benefit from this, infrastructure and communications are needed.
Projects can, for example, involve:
- promote new and renovation of housing and premises for businesses
- facilitate for newcomers and entrepreneurs to establish themselves
- improve communications and facilitate for travelers and commuters
- develop new solutions for the countryside's transport needs
- improve signage and information points
- transition to a more resilient-sustainable society
Business and employment
Vibrant countryside requires local livelihood opportunities. New business creation and entrepreneurship need to be facilitated and encouraged to harness Kustlandet's opportunities
Projects can, for example, involve:
- streamline marketing and reach new customer groups
- create new products and services
- increase the number of jobs
- increase the degree of diversification in the business sector
- increase the value-added of locally produced products
- reduce seasonal dependence
Climate and environment
A sustainable environment is important for the area's attractiveness and future. Sustainable conditions for business, housing, and recreation need sustainable natural and cultural environments.
Projects can, for example, involve:
- reduce emissions of environmental toxins and nutrient-rich substances
- stimulate the transition from fossil to renewable raw materials and energy
- preserve cultural-historical environments, objects, and traditions
- contribute to the fulfillment of national and regional environmental goals
- promote climate and environmental sustainability
- make nature and culture accessible for outdoor activities and the public
