Gullborg's Green
About the project
At Gullborgs farm in Tingstad, between Söderköping and Norrköping, Johan and Caroline Sjödell today run grain production and contracting business. For some time, they have tested growing vegetables and crops at a hobby level and noticed that there is a great demand for locally grown vegetables. Within the project, they want to develop the business and now take the step from hobby cultivation to professional vegetable production. With a cultivation area of about one hectare, Gullborgs Gröna can offer both open-field crops such as cabbage, beets, and lettuce, and heat-demanding varieties such as tomatoes, cucumbers, and peppers on a larger scale.
The initiative includes the construction of a tunnel greenhouse with an irrigation system, accessibility adaptation of a space for a farm shop, and marketing efforts. Together, this creates the conditions to produce and sell a wide range of vegetables directly on the farm. They plan to collaborate with surrounding businesses to attract more visitors to the area. In the long term, they see the possibility of organizing their own and joint events.
Project goals
The project's goal is to build a tunnel greenhouse with associated irrigation infrastructure, as well as to prepare an accessible farm shop where vegetables can be sold. The goal is to create a cultivation area of around one hectare with a wide range of vegetables, including heat-demanding varieties such as tomatoes, peppers, and chili, as well as classic open-field crops. The initiative involves a diversification of the business and increased employment. Furthermore, the ambition is to reach new customers within the municipality and surrounding area through marketing and local collaborations, thereby contributing to local food supply and rural development.
