Fårbo walking and cycling path
About the project
Within the project, a new walking and cycling path and safe cycle crossing will be established in Fårbo. The purpose is to improve local communications, increase traffic safety, and promote collective commuting and sustainable mobility. Today, there are no safe and functional walking and cycling routes between residential areas, schools, sports facilities, shops, and bus stops, which poses unnecessary risks in traffic and a significant dependence on cars for short everyday trips. Through dialogue with residents, associations, and the municipality, the need for better local infrastructure has been clarified, and the project now focuses on these insights.
The project begins with information dissemination and local dialogue to create anchoring among residents, associations, and other stakeholders, as well as detailed planning of the planned walking and cycling path. Construction will then begin, where contractors will establish walking and cycling paths, cycle crossings, and bike racks for commuters, with support and advice from local representatives to ensure a purposeful execution. When construction is complete, an inauguration will be arranged in the form of a cycling day to present the new opportunities and simultaneously promote cycling and collective commuting. The project is led and administered by Oskarshamn municipality in close collaboration with the project's partners, ensuring effective implementation and follow-up.
