Desalination plant at Harstena

At Harstena, the Lindkvist family operates a restaurant, bakery, and cabin rentals. As the tourism industry grows, the need for a secure and long-term drinking water supply has become increasingly important. During periods of high occupancy, the current water capacity is insufficient to meet the needs of the operations.
The purpose of the project is to ensure a long-term and sustainable access to drinking water for the operations at Harstena. The project includes the installation of a modern desalination plant that ensures access to drinking water for the rental cabins, restaurant, and bakery. The investment simultaneously creates conditions for continued development of the operations and strengthens Harstena as a tourist destination.

The new facility is based on energy-efficient osmosis technology with digital monitoring, which reduces energy consumption, prevents operational disruptions, and contributes to a sustainable water supply. The project is carried out in collaboration with other companies on the island and creates a long-term solution for both today's and future needs.
