Sankt Anna's archipelago is one of Sweden's most valuable coastal landscapes, rich in both natural and cultural environments. Here there are nature reserves, Natura 2000 areas, and protected marine environments, but also living stories about archipelago life, fishing, and historical settlements. At Lagnö, right at the entrance to the archipelago, Söderköping municipality owns the property Edgards. The site has long served as a natural meeting point for visitors, with tourist information and summer events. There is also a long-standing idea to establish a nature center, a place that can serve as a gateway to the archipelago's nature and culture. This feasibility study will investigate if and how such an operation can be established in an environmentally, economically, and organizationally sustainable way. The goal is to develop a concrete and feasible proposal for the operation and management of a nature center at the site. The work will be carried out over approximately six months and includes:

• Mapping of existing nature centers and local needs
• Environmental scanning through study visits
• Analysis and development of proposals with costs and organizational solutions 

The project takes place in dialogue with local and regional actors. When the feasibility study is completed, there will be a clear decision basis showing possible ways forward. In this way, conditions are created to strengthen both knowledge, tourism, and sustainable development in Sankt Anna's archipelago.

Project goals

The goal of the project is to conduct a feasibility study that maps and analyzes different concepts for nature center operations and to compile the results in a feasibility study report. The report will also develop and visualize an alternative for how a nature center operation in Sankt Anna can be managed, operated, and established in an economically sustainable way.
