Accessibility and Safety for Horses and Humans

About the project

At Häradsvallen, outside Mönsterås, the Icelandic Horse Association Strokkur has created an active and appreciated meeting place for Icelandic horse sports. Here, children, youth, and adults gather for training, courses, and competitions. The facility is also used by visiting riders and associations from the entire region. Interest in the activities is growing, and the association has the opportunity to conduct more and larger competition events. To meet this development, the facility needs to be improved and adapted for more visitors, horses, and teams.

Today, there is a lack of a safe and functional access road as well as sufficient stabling opportunities. This limits the facility's capacity and complicates both daily operations and the ability to organize larger competitions in a safe and functional manner.

Within the project, the association will make Häradsvallen safer, more accessible, and better equipped for future needs. The project includes the construction of 130 meters of new gravel road and eight new outdoor stalls. The new access road improves accessibility and logistics, while the outdoor stalls create better and safer stabling opportunities during training, competitions, and other events.

The investment creates better conditions for Strokkur to develop its association activities for children, youth, and adults, as well as to welcome more riders and associations to the facility. It also provides the opportunity to conduct more and larger events and contributes to strengthening Mönsterås municipality's attractiveness as a place for equestrian sports and horse sport events.

Project's purpose and goals

The purpose of the project is to create a safe, accessible, and functional facility that gives the association better conditions to develop its activities and organize more and larger events and competitions.

The goal is to complete 130 meters of new gravel road and eight new outdoor stalls. The investments will improve accessibility, create more efficient and safer logistics, and provide the facility with sufficient capacity for more horses and teams.

The project will simultaneously create better conditions for more training, competitions, and activities for children, youth, and adults. In the long term, the project aims to strengthen Mönsterås as an attractive destination for equestrian sports and larger horse sport events, which in turn can contribute to increased tourism and a strengthened visitor industry in the area.
