About the micro-support

MILOU-Undersöka is the micro-grant that can be applied for when a development idea needs to be processed and investigated. 

What can you apply for support for?

The projects should include investigative efforts where development ideas are reviewed, anchored, and further developed. The activities may include collaboration meetings, lectures, market surveys, environmental analyses, and study visits. 

Who can apply for support? 

Applicants can be an association, companies in collaboration, local development groups, or other organizations operating within the geography of Kustlandet.

How do you apply for support? 

To apply for support, you should use the application form that you can download via the button below. The application is emailed to us at the address stated on the form. Decisions on support are made by Kustlandet's decision committee for micro-support. We accept applications continuously as long as there is money left to distribute. Please feel free to contact us at the office for guidance and information on when your application should be submitted to be included in the next decision meeting. 

Collaboration and development of the local store and disc golf course.

In this sub-activity, Östra Ryds IF, together with the store in Östra Ryd, will investigate whether and in what ways they can collaborate to take advantage of the large number of players and visitors coming to the disc golf course Eastern Meadows DGC. The local store simultaneously faces economic challenges and is seeking new opportunities to strengthen and develop its operations. Through the collaboration, they aim to identify possible synergies where the store becomes a more integrated part of the visitor flow, for example, by serving as a starting and ending point for visitors. The long-term goal is to increase the number of visits to the store, improve service for both tourists and residents, and contribute to strengthening local services in Östra Ryd. The feasibility study should result in a joint vision and development sketches that show how the area can be designed. The material should then serve as a basis for continued planning, dialogue with landowners, and possible financing solutions for future implementation.

Feasibility study-Storgatan in Mönsterås

In this sub-activity, Mönsterås municipality, together with property owners and businesses within Mönsterås Handel, will investigate opportunities and conditions to make the commercial area around Storgatan more attractive. The feasibility study aims to make Storgatan a vibrant and appealing destination for both locals, tourists, and visitors from nearby areas, increase turnover for existing businesses, and create conditions for new establishments. The goal is to develop an action list that clearly describes what improvements are needed, estimated costs and timelines, what permits are required, and possible financing solutions. The work is carried out with the support of a consultant with experience in urban and commercial development, who, together with local actors, analyzes needs and opportunities and inspires with examples from other locations.

Part-time residence in Gryt

Within the sub-activity, Gryts Sockenförening will investigate Gryt's conditions as an area with a large proportion of seasonal residents, with a population that significantly increases during the summer months. Together with a consultant, the impact of seasonal residents on the local community, services, businesses, and municipal economy will be mapped. The aim is to create a more nuanced picture of seasonal residents and counter the perception that they solely constitute a burden by also highlighting their potential as a resource in the area's long-term development. The results will be compiled in a report aimed at residents, businesses, and politicians, with the ambition to increase understanding of Gryt's actual conditions and contribute to more balanced decisions. The project is conducted in collaboration with Josefina Syssner, professor and associate professor in cultural geography at Linköping University, who is responsible for methodological support, analysis, and presentation of the results.

Market research for Svensk Barter

Svensk Barter is a non-profit business cooperative owned and operated by its members, primarily based in Söderköping and surrounding areas. The association works to strengthen the local economy through organized barter trade between businesses. Barter is a way to create additional sales that would not have occurred otherwise and a way to improve the financial stability of businesses. To develop and strengthen the operation, the association now wants to map overcapacity and needs among businesses in Söderköping, Valdemarsvik, and Norrköping within this sub-activity. They want to understand trading patterns, identify obstacles, and find new ways to increase local barter trade and collaboration. The activities involve outreach and interviews with businesses, analyses, and the development of informational materials and marketing strategies.

Market research-
permanent residence on Hasselö

For Hasselö to be a vibrant archipelago island, more permanent residents are needed. To see if it is economically feasible and sustainable to build new housing, Mellanskärgårdens interest association wants to evaluate whether there is interest in living on Hasselö, which target group they should address, and what type of housing form may be relevant. Within the sub-activity, a market survey will be conducted, with interviews and surveys, as well as alternatives for housing with energy-efficient and circular systems being explored. The results from the market survey and study visits will form the basis for continued dialogue with Västervik Municipality and the implementation of permanent housing on Hasselö.

Project book for Loftahammarsdagen

Loftahammar's interest association wants to investigate the possibilities of reviving a previously highly appreciated village event that attracted tens of thousands of visitors for many years. The event was discontinued in 2020 due to the pandemic and lack of volunteers. The project aims to find out how the event can be restarted in a new form, with the right focus and in a long-term sustainable way. To reduce dependence on individual enthusiasts, the association wants to develop a clear project handbook – a practical tool with instructions on planning, implementation, permits, costs, and financing. A consultant will be hired to analyze the event's potential, identify opportunities, and develop effective governance tools. The goal is to create a stable foundation for a recurring event that can continue to contribute to Loftahammar's attractiveness.

Pre-study - Housing for the elderly in Östra Ryd 

The question of being able to offer adapted housing for the elderly in Östra Ryd, in order to create a moving circle and more residents, has been discussed at the village association's advisory meetings. To investigate interest, a survey was sent out to the residents, and from the responses received, many elderly expressed a desire to be able to stay in the community in adapted housing. Now the village association wants to proceed to the next step in this pre-study and investigate practical and economic conditions for building housing. Within the sub-activity, they, together with a consultant, will investigate and prepare material for an application for a preliminary decision for the construction of 55+ apartments in Östra Ryd. 

Meaningful leisure for children and youth

Save the Children’s local association Mönsterås-Ålem will investigate through a pre-study how young people in Blomstermåla experience their everyday life, their future prospects, and the opportunities for meaningful leisure. The focus is on mapping interests, identifying barriers to participation in activities, and capturing young people's perspectives. The goal is to develop proposals on how a more inclusive and meaningful leisure can be created. The pre-study will also explore new forms of collaboration between the municipality and civil society in the work with youth issues. The work will be conducted in collaboration with local associations and the youth center, and will include meetings, trial activities, lectures, and study visits. Young people and other stakeholders are invited to both a kickoff meeting and a concluding follow-up session where the results are presented.

The Gunpowder Cellar at Nabben 

On the property Oskarshamn Sörvik 4:46 there is an area, Nabben, where there are remains of old buildings. The remains are referred to by the National Heritage Board as ”House foundation, historical period,” where the Krutkällaren is included, as ”Other cultural-historical remains.” The property owners have, after discussions with the County Administrative Board, cleared the vegetation on and in the Krutkällaren to stop the destruction that roots from trees and bushes have begun. Now the property owners want to proceed to further protect the remains and allow it to be used more widely and publicly as a windbreak and resting place for hikers and visitors. To arrive at the design of the Krutkällaren in its new function, the implementers, with the help of a consultant, will produce building permit and construction drawings.

Safe in the stable

Överums equestrian association will hold meetings and discuss issues about how everyone can feel safe in the stable and how they can create an environment where one dares to speak up when something is not as it should be. These can be issues of equal treatment, well-being, reception, and safety. To support this, the association has material developed by the Equestrian Federation. Within the sub-activity, the association will conduct a lecture with Johanna Lassnack, an equestrian profile and influencer who has personal experiences of harassment and poor reception in the stable. After the lecture and ”safe in the stable” meetings, the association will evaluate the impressions and plan how they can continue to work on these issues.

Improved climate and environmental work 

The Brevik Foundation has been conducting camp activities for children and youth at KFUM Brevik's Course and Camp Center, Vikbolandet since 1956. Over time, the number of buildings as well as the number of children and youth on the farm has increased. This in turn means that more natural resources in the form of energy, food, and water are used, which often also leads to increased costs. To gain a better understanding and knowledge of how they can operate the business more sustainably, they want to, in this sub-activity with the support of a consultant and data collection, understand the farm's starting point. They will also conduct study visits to gain inspiration and practical advice and identify concrete measures. Based on the results, an action plan will be developed that can be implemented in the organization.
