Homemade gelato
at Rodga
About the project
Lina Lundqvist runs a summer café at Rodga Säteri. From May to September, lunch, sandwiches, coffee, buns, and pastries are served in combination with the area's cultural history, horses, and sheep in nearby pastures, nature, and hiking trails. In the summer of 2023, Lina had the opportunity to borrow a machine for small-scale production of gelato, a type of fresh ice cream, and tried it on customers. The trial was labor-intensive with the equipment available but was successful. From there, the idea was born to make gelato a permanent part of the café's offerings. However, efficient and quality production requires investments in equipment that Lina did not see she could manage on her own. Within the project, which has been granted as project support to businesses, the necessary equipment for ice cream production will be acquired, installed, and put into operation, allowing café Rodga Spis to offer a unique new product.
The project is a development of the business café Rodga Spis and contributes to strengthening the company's competitiveness as a destination. The hope is that it will lead to more guests and increased revenue with better profitability. In the long term, they hope to be able to hire a pastry chef.

”The business support from Kustlandet was crucial for me. Thanks to the support, I dared to invest; without it, I would not have taken the step.".
”Now I have also been able to fulfill another goal in the project, which was to hire another baker/pastry chef in the company. In November this year, Sonny transitioned from a probationary position to a permanent position. Now there are two of us working full-time in the company!"
