Now Oskarshamn Rowing Club (ORK) will modernize and develop the operations to attract younger participants and secure the club's future.

About the project

Oskarshamn Rowing Club was founded in 1935 and was very active until the 1970s. Facilities and equipment from that time remain, but the operations dwindled. In 2022, there were plans to close the club, but there was a group that recognized the club's environmental, cultural, and athletic values. The association was restarted, and they began planning how the operations could be revitalized and attract a younger generation.

The association will modernize and develop the operations within the project by starting youth activities and broadening the range of club activities. The association's clubhouse is located on an island, which is leased by Oskarshamn Municipality and is accessible to the public, reached via a 50 m long bridge. For the club to start youth activities and broaden the number of activities, the clubhouse needs to be renovated and energy-efficient. Equipment for new training forms in rowing and SUP paddling needs to be purchased.
